Gojira have released an official video for their track The Cell. The track was originally from the band’s sixth album, Magma, which was released to critical acclaim in June via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2012's "L'Enfant Sauvage" was recorded at Joseph's Silver Cord Studio in Queens, New York.
GOJIRA was nominated in two categories at this year's Grammy Awards: "Best Metal Performance" for the song "Silvera", and "Best Rock Album" for "Magma".
The frontman Joseph Duplantier told the AFP news agency about being nominated for a Grammy: "We started playing pretty intense thrash and death metal and I've been mostly growling for the last twenty years, so I wasn't expecting any kind of award. I never even thought of the concept of being nominated for the Grammys. We're super excited and surprised, but it's not like God telling you you're good and the others are not good," he said. "It's the Grammys."
METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett recently praised GOJIRA, saying that they were "the best thing I've heard in a long time. I love their new album," he said. "I think it's an incredible piece of art. It's heavy, it's vibey, it's moody. It has all the things you want to hear — great complex rhythms, great drumming, great riffs, great songs."
Other tracks from album Magma:
"Low Lands"
"The Shooting Star"
"Silvera"

Norwegian symphonic black metal band, Dimmu Borgir unveil first live clip 'Mourning Palace (live at Wacken). This live performance is part of their upcoming Forces of the Northern Night DVD which will be released via Nuclear Blast. Video for this release was during their performance in Oslo on stage with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a bombastic choir, along with their Wacken Open Air set back in 2012. The release seems to have been pushed from April 14th to April 28th.
In an interview with Scuzz TV, DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Sven Atle Kopperud (a.k.a. Silenoz) stated about the experience of performing with an orchestra: "It was, of course, really special, especially since it was in Oslo, and a lot of people traveled in for the show from all over the world. And everything went great on stage for once. When you have a hundred people on stage, the percentage of something going wrong is definitely there, but it was really, really good. You think your band is professional, then you play with an orchestra, and then you know, 'Oh, we're not so professional after all.'"

MEGADETH won a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" at the 59th annual Grammy Awards, which is being held tonight (Sunday, February 12) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Nominated for "Dystopia", the title track of its 2016 album.
This was Megadeth’s 12th Grammy nomination and first win. Best Metal Performance other nominees included Baroness’ “Shock Me,” Gojira’s “Silvera,” Korn’s “Rotting in Vain” (their 10th nominations) and Periphery’s “The Price is Wrong.”
As Megadeth approached the stage to accept their long-awaited Grammy Award, the house band actually played Metallica‘s “Master of Puppets.” Awkward! But Dave Mustaine didn’t seem to mind, air-guitaring on his way down the aisle.
During the acceptance, Mustaine said “Fantastic! Only took 12 tries to get this, Last time we were here we were talking to Kenny G and he asked me how many times we were here and he goes, ‘We’ll 11 isn’t that bad.’ I said, ‘How many times did it take you?’ And he said, ’21,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, my god. If it takes 21 times… I don’t know if I’ll live that long.'” Mustaine continued, “I want to thank Jesus Christ, I want to thank my wife, my children, all the band’s wives and kids, I want to thank our management, our label, our agent, our attorney, our crew, all of you, especially the metal community. It’s a little weird that we ended up being category 69, but somebody’s got a sense of humor.”
The Grammys are voted on by approximately 13,000 Recording Academy members, who are comprised of artists, songwriters, producers and engineers. More than 21,700 recordings were submitted for Grammys consideration this year. For 2017 awards, music must have been released between October 1, 2015, and September 30, 2016, in order to be eligible.
The death metal veterans from Florida, OBITUARY, just released a lyric video for "Turned To Stone", a brand new track taken from the band's self-titled, tenth studio album, out on March 17 via Relapse.
OBITUARY vocalist John Tardy said "When writing records the song titles and album titles are always the last things on our minds. We know that the songs themselves are the most important thing, so with this our tenth studio album and nearly three decades as a band, we thought it was the perfect time for a self-titled release. It always helps to have a killer album cover so we worked with Andreas Marschall, gave him our ideas and thoughts and asked him to break out the big guns to create an epic logo and he delivered like he always has for OBITUARY. We could not be any more excited about this new album. We had a blast writing and recording it and having Ken [Andrews, guitar] and Terry [Butler, bass] as part of the writing process was a very cool experience for all of us.
"We really took our time with the writing process of these new songs, recording riffs and ideas as we went along and recording them as rough mixes then listening back and making necessary changes to help mold them into the songs that we are extremely proud of. It's always a challenge in the studio to get the song ideas out of your head onto the recording the way you want but we made sure we were comfortable with the songs and the sounds we were getting before we even hit the record button and it made it a great experience.
"It's hard to believe it's been two and a half years since the release of 'Inked In Blood' and we are so excited to get this new album into the hands of our fans. Can't wait for everyone to hear it. Hang on to your ass!!!!"
