BELPHEGOR Release Official Lyric Video "Apophis - Black Dragon"

European diabolical death/black metal veteran, BELPHEGOR, just released an official lyric video for the song "Apophis - Black Dragon". The track is taken from the band's new album, "Totenritual", which will be released on September 15 via Nuclear Blast. The album was recorded at Stage One Studios in Germany and Studio Mischmaschine in Austria and was mixed by Jason Suecof and mastered by Mark Lewis at Audiohammer Studios in Florida.

The album artwork created by Greek artist Seth Siro Anton, who also painted the cover artwork for 2006's "Pestokalypse VI" and 2014's "Conjuring The Dead". Check it out below.

BELPHEGOR singer, guitarist and founder Helmuth Lehner commented: "It is the most brutally heavy offering we have consecrated thus far. The drums are precise and very technical with loads of breaks, fills and tempo changes. The bass is like a panzer tank. Also, the rhythm guitars are utterly aggressive and obscure. You don't hear guitars like that anywhere with such a massively low tuning."

The frontman Dani Filth stated "This track is one of my favorite songs from the new Cryptoriana album -aside from ‘Achingly Beautiful’, ‘Death And The Maiden’ and the title track- due to its very unique flavor and its vehement brutality. The culminative strike is especially very Dusk… and Her Embrace era Black Metal…

"Inspired by the works of H. Rider Haggard, a Victorian author who schooled in my home town of Ipswich, this song uses the railroad annexation of the Transvaal in Africa during the 19th century to paint a vision of the greedy machinations of man coming up against a furious, displaced natural foe, thus posing an allegory for the downtrodden, revolting. 

"I also have the latin of this expression tattooed on my arm (due to being the usual supercilious Leo!).

The quote was made famous having been said in 1697 by Johann Bernoulli about Isaac Newton's anonymously submitted solution to Bernoulli's challenge regarding the Brachistochrone curve.

CRADLE OF FILTH Release The First Video "Heartbreak And Séance"

U.K. Gothic black extreme metal band Cradle of Filth just released an official video for the song "Heartbreak And Séance". The track is the first single from the upcoming twelfth studio album, "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay", which will be released on September 22 via Nuclear Blast.

The frontman Dani Filth commented: "The album is deeply infused with Victorian gothic horror and thus the title is a reflection of that. 'Cryptoriana' implies the Victorian's infatuation with the supernatural, the grave and the ghoulish. And the subtitle 'The Seductiveness Of Decay' further cements this attraction to death and the glittering lengthy process of self-annihilation. We, as a band, are incredibly excited about hitting the U.K. and Ireland for a full run of dates around All Hallows Eve, as playing the band's home country is always great fun and the audiences here are very receptive. And nuts. The dates will be the first in a long line of shows that will extend throughout the rest of the world throughout 2018. We aim to be very prolific on the live front, delivering a show worthy of our fans' exalted expectations and more."

GOATWHORE Release "Vengeful Ascension"

GOATWHORE will release their anticipated Vengeful Ascension full-length worldwide on June 23rd via Metal Blade Records. The band’s seventh full-length and second recorded reel-to-reel, Vengeful Ascension was captured at Earth Analog in Tolono, Illinois near Champaign, Illinois with longtime soundman and comrade Jarrett Pritchard (1349, Gruesome), breaking a four-album tradition of working with Erik Rutan.

“Working with Rutan was awesome,” says Goatwhore front-man Ben Falgoust. “We did some great records with him. But you come to a point where you’re like, ‘All right. Let’s try something new.’ It was part of trying to remove ourselves from a comfort zone and a risk thing we needed to take. Plus, we really wanted to hit the essence of where we are live and what better way to harness that than by having our live sound guy involved. Jarrett is knowledgeable with the studio stuff. He also knows how we sound coming out of a PA and we really wanted to get closer to that.”

The resulting ten-track, forty-one-minute production – mixed by Chris Common (Tribulation, Pelican) and mastered by Maor Applebaum (Faith No More, Halford, Today Is The Day) – marches in, clutches its listeners by the throat and refuses to loosen its grip until the abrupt conclusion of “Those Who Denied God’s Will.” A sonic manifestation of war, chaos, desolation, and emotional conflict, seamlessly bridging twenty years of the band’s signature brand of audio venom, it’s a record that finds its members at their most accomplished both individually and as a cohesive unit. Guitarist Sammy Duet’s dense, sub nuclear riff work and possessed solo blitzes are at their most devastating, spiraling flawlessly and instinctually around drummer Zack Simmons’ and bassist James Harvey’s hammering rhythms, while Falgoust’s distinctly commanding roar, his acidic prose, more enunciated than ever before, complimenting the apocalyptic proceedings.

“Each song is a representation of Goatwhore. From day one until now. It really shows our evolution as a band,” the front-man reflects.“I don’t think that this band has reached its peak yet. I mean, I think we’re closer now than ever but we’re still growing; we’re still evolving.”

HATE is Back With a New Video "Nominosum"

The death metal veteran from Warsaw, Poland, HATE, is back with the new video "Nominosum" from the upcoming album "Tremendum" out May 5th 2017. The video was produced by 9LITER FILMY and directed by Błażej Jankowiak.

Tremendum sets a new and strong opening for the well-known Polish extreme metal act HATE. You will re-discover the band and on a new level, as they seem to reach into different musical resources including progressive beats, ingenious song structures and a completely new sound, which is still authentically harsh and yet very powerful. HATE have refined their formula and have created an album that re-establishes them as a serious player on the scene. The material's title Tremendum (eeriness and the fear of the holy) refers to an archaic notion of holiness, which is both good and evil (But after listening to the first few minutes of HATE's brand new work, you will have absolutely no doubt which part of it this band represents!). Fast and well defined songs set a new standard in the band's songwriting. Beware! The amount of fierceness on the album is beyond anything HATE have ever done before, yet the structure of the songs let you submerge in them as soon as you press play.

"Forces Of The Northern Night" is a double DVD from Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR, will be released on April 28 via Nuclear Blast. The set will contain two of the band's live performances: their legendary show in Oslo, presenting DIMMU BORGIR on stage with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a bombastic choir, as well as their entire performance at Wacken Open Air festival in 2012 in Wacken, Germany with almost a hundred musicians on stage. Both concerts present a spectacular sound scenario of raging black metal in front of an epic orchestral landscape plus the band's unique visuals. In addition to the two concerts, "Forces Of The Northern Night" will include a bonus documentary feature.

DIMMU BORGIR's May 28, 2011 concert at the Oslo Spektrum in Norway, which is included on "Forces Of The Northern Night", featured a special setlist with 53 members of KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra) and 30 members of the Schola Cantorum choir, who were musical guests on the band's ninth studio album, 2010's "Abrahadabra". The show was professionally filmed and was broadcast as part of a one-hour documentary in June 2011 on NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), the Norwegian government-owned radio and television public broadcasting company and the largest media organization in Norway.

DIMMU BORGIR frontman Stian Thoresen (a.k.a. Shagrath) says "For us, this is the pinnacle of our career so far. As a band, we've always used a lot of symphonic elements in our music. But we haven't been able to use a real orchestra. We've had to use samples, synthesizers and so on, so this was a huge, awesome experience for us."

In an interview with Scuzz TV, DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Sven Atle Kopperud (a.k.a. Silenoz) stated about the experience of performing with an orchestra: "It was, of course, really special, especially since it was in Oslo, and a lot of people traveled in for the show from all over the world. And everything went great on stage for once. When you have a hundred people on stage, the percentage of something going wrong is definitely there, but it was really, really good. You think your band is professional, then you play with an orchestra, and then you know, 'Oh, we're not so professional after all.'"

TOMBS Launch "Cold" from the album "The Grand Annihilation".

The black metalers from Brooklyn, New York, US, TOMBS, launched "Cold" from the album "The Grand Annihilation" via Metal Blade Records. Produced by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, SOILENT GREEN, BELPHEGOR, HATE ETERNAL).

[Youtube] Tombs front-man Mike Hill is not a man interested in appeasing his existing audience or modifying the music he makes in the hope of luring in a broader one. Letting the songs come as and when inspiration hits him is integral to Hill's process, and this accounts in part for The Grand Annihilation's diversity. The blasting, scathing yet melodic black metal savagery of opener "Black Sun Horizon" and "Way Of The Storm" are very much built to destroy, while wielding a poignancy that is undeniable - both of which stand in strong contrast to the uncomfortable post-punk squall of "Underneath" that showcases Hill's Nick Cave/Ian Curtis-esque singing voice, while the likes of the throbbing "Saturnalian" and unnerving tribal thunder of "Walk With Me In Nightmares" stand in categories all of their own. While every track on The Grand Annihilation stands separate from those around it, it is still a cohesive collection, and at no point do the stylistic twists and turns undermine its coherence. "If you've been following Tombs, you probably know to expect the unexpected, and I always strive to present a full range of emotion on everything with the band's name on it," Hill explains. "That said, this is a very dark and introspective record that digs deep into the common ideas of mortality, infinity and cosmic mysteries. The lyrics on the new record are a celebration of freedom through embracing the dark side. Once you realize that you follow the dark path - the path of the individual - there is a certain feeling of liberation that accompanies it."

The Black Metal Legend, DARKTHRONE, Release a Video, "Tundra Leech"

[undertheradar] Norwegian duo Darkthrone are gearing up to release new album Arctic Thunder and in anticipation have let loose new single 'Tundra Leech'. The eight-song record, which will be the pair's sixteenth full-length studio offering, is due to drop on 14th October via Peaceville Records

"Arctic Thunder" was mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door and was recorded and produced by the band themselves, with the sessions conducted at DARKTHRONE's old rehearsal unit, The Bomb Shelter, which was originally used during 1988-1990.

English black metal band CRADLE OF FILTH have released a stream of their up coming release, DUSK… AND HER EMBRACE – THE ORIGINAL SIN.

The album that catapulted Cradle Of Filth to the forefront of the British metal underground which first released in 1996, Dusk... And Her Embrace was  not the original, due to a period of great turmoil that saw the band's original lineup disintegrate, necessitating the recording of a new version and the discarding of the band's first attempt. In 2016 after languishing in the shadows for 20 years, Dusk... And Her Embrace: The Original Sin is the definitive version of this revered Cradle classic.

Dusk… And Her Embrace: The Original Sin is released July 8, via Cacophonous Records.

Behemoth frontman Nergal says he's making progress on new album

Behemoth frontman Adam 'Nergal' Darski has revealed he's started work on the band's next album.

The singer said in January that he has been inspired by the "avant-garde" when writing the follow-up to 2014's The Satanist, adding that it would be a "new chapter" for the band and redefine their music.

Now he says in an Instagram post that he's playing "dark stuff" on his Gretsch White Falcon guitar.

He says: "Well, It has begun. The process. New music for Behemoth. Interesting to hear how the dark stuff sounds when played on White Falcon. It kinda gets me on a different track and I'm liking it a lot."

Darski also said he expected the new material to have post-punk influences.
